Exodus 34:27-35
We get our face sunburnt or tanned
when we are outside in the sun.
We turn red when we are embarrassed.
Color drains from our face
when we get scared or we
get pale when we are sick.
Many things change how we look.
I've seen people brighten up and even
get a little giddy because they're
feeling God’s Spirit. On the other
hand, bad news, shame, and guilt
can change how we look as well.
Whenever Moses met with God, it changed
his appearance - his face glowed!
It was such a strange thing; the people
were afraid! Moses wore a veil to cover
his face when he wasn't meeting with God.
Remember what was said about the disciples
when they were questioned by the authorities?
They knew they had been with Jesus!
Not because of a glow, but there
was something special about them.
What about you? Can people tell
by your looks, your language, or your actions
that you have spent time with Jesus?
Spending time with God should change us!
How could it not? If it doesn't,
something is wrong with how we have spent that time.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for all of
the changes that You do make in us.
Help us to understand that changes
made by You are good things and
to seek even more by spending time with You.
P.S. Need help making time with God
a regular thing? Try this:
Prioritize – determine that it is vital
that you meet regularly with God.
Don’t let other things keep you from it!
Place & Time – it will help you make it
a regular practice if you have a special
place and time set to meet with God.
Plan – have a plan for your time;
at least have a reading plan, but better
yet, work through a devotional book.
If you don’t, you may waste time just
trying to decide what to read!
Pray – devote ample time to prayer
each time you meet with God.
You need to open your heart to Him.
Spend time in thanksgiving and praise
as well as praying about concerns.
Pay Attention – let God speak to you
and your situation as you read His word
– it is not just reading for
information, but also for transformation!
Listen as you pray, too –
conversations go both ways!
